Do weiner dogs and labs make good friends? Would they enjoy hanging out while home alone?

We already have a one year old chocolate labrador who loves going to the dog park and swimming at the lake. However, we were looking for a friend for our lab to have while we’re away at work, and hopefully for her to play with as well. The dog we’ve had in mind is a weiner dog, because they’re adorable. So, my question is, how well would weiner dogs and labradors get along and would they play together?

We have both and although they get along fine, they don’t play together. Labs are much bigger than a dachshund and have much energy and many dachshunds just can’t keep up because of heir short legs. You didn’t say if you were thinking of a mini-dachshund or a standard because a standard might be a better choice if you really want a dachshund.
